I want to become an Administrator, what would be a good course to do?

I have worked in Customer Service (Retail) for several years and I am sick of it.
I don't have the patience to go back to University, but I wouldn't mind doing a year long college course.

I am always seeing Office Jobs popping up, simply saying they are looking for people who are competent using Microsoft Office. I'd like to go for something like this, but I have no idea what to go for as my Mum says she doesn't think they do courses in Administration (i.e. courses that would teach letter writing, filing, faxing, computer skills, how to be a Secretary all the ins and outs basically) like they used to when I was leaving school.
But maybe she is wrong.

Anybody know anything about this?

Is your Mum's answer based on ringing round local colleges - if not, then I suggest you try it as a start.

For example, my local college (Chichester) offer 23 courses in Business and Administration, 56 in Computing and IT, and some in Higher Eductaion which include HNC/HND in Business.

You could also try enquiring at your local CAB or Library, or even the Job Centre (if it's a good one - many are pretty hopeless).

Good luck with improving your job prospects.
You could do an HNC in Administration and Information Technology
