I have recently completed a drink driving ban (DR10) . Total disqualification period was one year. Though, i was disqualified before i had completed the mandiatory two year probation period. Does this mean i will have to resit my driving test. Even though i was not given any points by the courts who issued the disqualification ?

Points are awarded "upto " the amount required for a ban . having recieved an instant ban from driving which is standard minimum sentance for DR10 its like getting the max points all in one go.
I would double check this part but if you mean you inicialy passed your test less than two years prior to recieving your conviction then "as of my understanding of the rules" the 6 point rule would apply and you should seek a re-test prior to driving again. This can easily be checked at the local police station for confirmation hope this helps .
As a foot note
You MUST inform the insurance company of this DR10 conviction , otherwise you invalidate your insurance and this would mean another conviction for driving a vehicle without insurance
