Does anyone know where I can get these?    They are the little white plastic coated (wire) ties that are used on lunch-bags etc.   Is there a proper name for them?

wilkinsons sell them, on there own, or with lunch bags
You can also buy the plastic wire in reels with a cutter (although it's green not white) - its sold as garden ties. Much more economical beacuse you can cut the exact length you want.  Try B&Q or Robert Dyas, Woolies, Wilkinsons and most garden centres.
Ironmongers/Hardware shops, possibly Woolies and probably even Supermarkets.  I think they are called wire closures.
