With Muslims in the UK establishing their own schools, one wonders how their children will acquire our values and be able to integrate into our society

An MP recently attended a training session where there was a presentation by three speakers from the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained their beliefs. He asked the Imam about the fact that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a Holy War against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel they earn a place in heaven. He asked “can you give me the definition of an infidel?’

There was no disagreement with my statement and, without hesitation he replied, ‘Non-believers!’ The MP told him that he had a problem with being his ‘friend’ when he and his brother clerics are telling followers to kill him

Perhaps some muslims reading this would like to comment on their beliefs and how they can expect to be welcomed and integrated among people that they have orders to kill!.

Suzie don't jump to conclusions, the last question was rhetorical.
123everton - I espouse absolutely NO values on this thread !?! And certainly nothing that could be construed positively or negatively.

I hope I haven't had my 'sub-text' key switched on and it's been busy posting between my lines..................
a rhetorical question, it still seemed rude though, but we wont get into that-otherwise there will be another naomi and ankou style debate, my fingers are tired of typing
suzie1,its nice to know that someone has good views about Pakistan on this site.i remember, the last time i mentioned it one lady got really offended and i never knew why.
Fair enough Suzie, if you read my posts often enough then hopefully you'll see that my views are not as they first appeared to you.
Jack why ever not?
It's not a manifesto, it's AB, personally I like people to tell what is rather than tell me what it int, it's easy (and lazy) to criticise.
If you feel I'm wrong about something, say so, then tell me why you think I'm wrong, but at least pay us all the courtesy of saying why you're right.
That is a fair exchange of views, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising you I'm just using you and I as analogy for debate in general.
I'm always guided by the truism: Opinions are like a r s e h o l e s. we've all got one and they're usually full of s h i t.
To my mind to answer the sub-text, to fit into British culture one should be oneself and proud of it, so long as you're not hurting anyone, why should anyone else care?
123everton - What I was trying to say was that I hadn't actually replied to grasscarp's question(s); bad manners and I apologise. I had read through the responses and was baffled by Ankou's vective at naomi24; this is where I joined the debate, rather than on the subject-matter at hand.

I want to thank all those who have contributed to this debate today. I got an email this morning that asked that I pass it on to others, and was from a friend. I thought the quickest way to pass it on was to post it on Answerbank. I rapidly realised from the first posters that the email was not what it seemed and asked AB Ed to withdraw it. AB Ed responded to me that there was no need to withdraw it. I did feel a bit embarassed about the whole post though so thank you to those who have taken the time to comment.
Don't worry about it, grasscarp. These things happen, so please don't let it deter you from posting here again. :o)

Thank you for your kind message Naomi. Have a great weekend.
i enjoyed this debate...do post again grasscarp.
You too, grasscarp. :o)
Seems like I missed a bit too much on this thread. I had to drive to Devon to drop off my wife at her parents. So just got back about an hour ago. Horrible driving conditions but I love it.

All I can do now is what others have done. What values people would like my kids to aspire or acquire? Please name few.
Keyplus, grasscarp asked 'With Muslims in the UK establishing their own schools, one wonders how their children will acquire our values and be able to integrate into our society.' As far as I can see, the question concerns the reasons a Muslim parent has for choosing to separate his children from the mainstream, so it isn't which of our values WE think your children should acquire and aspire to, but which of our values YOU don't want your children to acquire and aspire to.

Jack, thank you very much. :o)
You are just reversing my question naomi. If you believe that Muslims are not acquiring British values then you must name few. As far as schools are concerned then that has nothing to do with values. Any way my kids go to the same school where all the others go.
Or perhaps you can answer this question yourself. Why? What are the reasons you believe for them to do or not to do that. After all you know everything so why not this?
Keyplus, just because you feel someone has created another silly bandwagon for you to jump upon, there really is no need for rudeness. I didn’t say I believe Muslims are not acquiring British values, so please don‘t put words into my mouth. I was simply trying to put the question into the context in which I believe it was asked. Never mind. Clearly sensible debate continues to elude this thread, and that’s a shame because it was a good question, and one to which could have led to some understanding. However, since my patience has worn thin with people who are apparently only capable of making inane and deliberately argumentative and insulting comments, I will leave those of you who clearly have so much in common to talk amongst yourselves.

Thanks for asking the question, grasscarp. 76 answers to date, so not bad for a mistake! :o)
Respecting others' beliefs is the last thing any sensible person should do. Should I respect someone's belief that so-called 'honour' murders, jihads, persecutions of gays, female genital mutilation, AIDS is not prevented by safe sex, rape victims are 'asking for it' are acceptable? Respect the person, not the belief.
