I thought the job offered to me was part time 9-1 mon-fri cash office/admin and shop floor.

Turns out I'm not in cash office very often at all. Cash office people have to start at 7.30. They think I am too slow and constantly nagging me to hurry up.

Hours all over place not 9-1 at all like offered.

Signed contract sayin they'd pay me £6.17 per hour - most of the shop floor employees get £5.83 but thought I got the extra cus I do cash office.

Now today they tell me they got my pay wrong and they are cutting it to £5.83. Are they allowed to do this?

Read the smallprint on my contract which says the company are authorised to claim back any overpayment of salary made to me. The way I see it though an overpayment is where they may have paid me for an extra hour which I didn't work by mistake - does being told my wage is £6.17 to start with count as an overpayment?

Manager said that as I am on my probationary period the company can do whatever they like.

if you were told your wages would be £6.17 and they need to alter them I don't think they can just do it as though they made a mistake, they will be better cutting your total hours worked per week i think.

I just don't think they should be allowed to cut anything hours or salary. Their mistake. They can't change the contract.

Wish I knew my rights as an employee else these companies walk all over you! Might phone acas
yeah do that, it's 08457 47 47 47
what does your contract state your hourly rate and hours are?

20hrs

£6.17
it would be odd that they would reduce your wage if its contractually , hours can depend on how the contract is worded, i woudl def contact acac

Just read a bit on acas website

I think they might have been wrong to do that but as I've signed to say I agree to the change I probs won't be able to do anything now.

Will phone acas though I think.

These companies think they can get away with anything and I'm not having it
