Unfortunately I was clocked at 90 in a 70 zone. What amount of points / fine can I expect to receive?

Thanks

6 points, don't know about the fine though.
90! Over the national speed limit - you could lose your licence. How many points have you now got?
Expect a court summons (rather than a fixed penalty notice).

If it was actually 90mph (rather than, say, 91mph) expect a fine of 75% of your weekly take home pay, plus costs (perhaps £80), plus a £15 'victim surcharge', together with 3 penalty points.

Just over 90mph would bring about the risk of an immediate ban but you'd probably be fined (at a level similar to, or slightly higher than above), with perhaps 4 (or up to 6) penalty points.

Then this must've changed since 2004.

In 2004 I was caught doing 92 in a 70 by a camera and got 3 points and a £60 fine.
Complete bollux above, they'll offer a fixed pen, 3 points + £60. Have you got the NIP then? (90 in a 70, is like 39 in a 30, not serious, fixed pen all day long.
I cannot put it quite so succinctly as the Geezer, but he is right.

The Association of Chief Police Officers guidance suggests that a fixed penalty should be offered for speeds up to 96mph. Above that and a summons is usually issued.

thanks guys, stupid I know but somone told me would get banned and relieved to know its only 3 points.
not so

As the national limit is 70.you were doing well in excess.
So a court appearance is on the cards.
you will be given opportunity to give reasons etc.
But they will take a very hard line as there is no excuse for being 20 mph above the speed.
You most certainly will be looking at a ban
