Why can't we have a National Party?

Seeing that nobody took up the offer to answer this in a previous post, I thought I might enter it as a question in it's own right.

How is it that the Scottish can have a Scottish Nationalist Party, yet we are accused of belonging to the far right if we want a Nationalist Party?

Ideally an English Nationalist Party (open to all Englishmen & women whatever their colour) that sounds good, but eh! the existing English Democratic Party are also labelled the far right.

I asked what the manifesto of such a party would you be and you asked what the SNP's manifesto is. I don't see the connection - or are you suggesting your ENP should just copy the Scots' manifesto but replace Scotland with England? What exactly do you want this party to stand for?

There's nothing wrong with that, they're allowed to be. But the right-wing label is accurate.

C'mon AOG, you must have heard of the British Empire, the British Army, The Battle of Britain. All of which were stuffed full of Welsh, Scots, Irish and English.

What has all this got to do with my question? they call it the British Empire, because it was made up of the 4 countries that make up Britain as is the Army, and the Battle of Britain was indeed the battle for all 4 countries of these islands.

Myself and my fore-fathers before me were born in England, so I prefer to call myself an Englishman, just as a Scotsman, Welshman and Irishman also prefer not to call themselves British.

There is a continued conspiracy to slowly erase England from the map of Europe, in fact it is not on the EU map only regions. Just listen to the TV and Radio or read the newspapers England is hardly ever referred to, except when referring to the national football team, and there are even some who would wish this to be called the British football team.

Not to the extent that I would let it come to define my political views, AOG, no. If England play Scotland in football, I want England to win. If Man City play Chelsea, I want City to win.

If a political party claimed to stand up for Mancunians over and above all others, I'd probably think they were a bit narrow-minded. I'd probably plum for a political party that considers wider issues such as the economy foreign affairs, crime and education - rather than being narrowly preoccupied with people's place of birth.
