Not sure how experienced a climber you are but just found out it is 17,000 feet high. Mount Everest is 24,000 feet so that is some climb.

Bearing in mind that the tallest peak in the UK is 3,000 feet and can take a day to get up and down, I would say any climb of Mount Kenya would need a hell of a lot of planning and "doing it on youir own" would be somewhat foolhardy.

And after watching the Red Nose climbers do Kilimanjaro I would say you DEFINATELY need to do it as part of an organized group, and would need plenty of preparation.
As VHG has said you do need to go in a party not "DIY". Think you need to do some research. How experienced a climer are you?

My son has climbed it but he is an experienced climberand he thought it was much easier than Kilimanjaro. You really need to check the dates as it isn't a good idea to climb in the rainy season.
