Hi

My Daughter is going on a scout camp at the end of October, The only thing is, that there is my daughter and one other girl going with the group. Until I speak to the leader on Thursday, I am unaware of any female scout leaders going on this trip. Can anyone tell me the ruling on this and is there any sort of policy that covers this this. I presume that it would be the same as a school trip. I just need some clarification for the worst case.

This just reveals the problem which puzzles me, why do the Guides remain a female only organisation so that girls can learn in a female environment protected from all the competition etc of boys being present, but what was the boy's organisation, now admits girls, so what happens if some boys need a male environment? No chance apparently.!

However, your question just shows the difficulties where, when there are scout groups which are still mainly boys, they have to struggle with this situation. I don't know the answer - it just strikes me that the Scouts have shot themselves, and their members, both girls and boys in the foot. Maybe you will have to go along? Better get your Child Protection credentials checked PDQ!
The girls don't go!!! I don't know the answer but when you find out please let me know.

Thanks

Ps Girl guiding got in quick when they were dishing out exclusions on the rules and the scouts left it too late to get out of it.
Would have thought that it would be the same as a school trip with a certain ratio of adults to youngsters and at least one adult of both sexes (ie 1 female with the rest male or 1 male with the rest female). Have you seen a risk assessment for the trip - it sets out all of this stuff.
