Hey

do you thin that it is a good idea to buy a flat with another bloke?

I am 27 he is 30. We just are of the same mind that it is better to buy and sell after 10 years rather than rent. What do you think?

Definitely! It makes the mortgage cheaper and gets you both onto the property market. I know of quite a few males who live together, my brother and his mate included, admittedly the neighbours thought they were gay at first but i think he just lives in an area where the neighbours are old and old fashioned, i.e. not in the 21st century! Do it!

I do know a couple of friends who did this. It was fine until one of them wanted to get married. She couldn't afford to buy the friend out and the friend didn't want to sell the flat and have to look for another place to live. So, I think you need to both think carefully about what you'd do if one wants to move out.

You should both get independant advice,

The contributions you each make should be reflected by the legal and equitable title.

Ensure first refusal on the other buyer's share if he wants to move.

Is the other likely to default on mortgage repayments? What will happen if this happens? Insurance etc

My brother and his friend bought a house together when they first moved to London as it worked out cheaper than paying rent.  They drew up a contract at the time in relation to the re-sale, etc. and it has worked out very well for them.
If you're going to flat-share make sure you come to an agreement beforehand with regard to the division of household chores and domestic expenditure. Many an otherwise good friendship has been soured by disagreements in this department.
have to lived together before? maybe rent together for a bit to see if you get on - i like my best mate a lot but would never live with him after trying it for a bit
I have been in various situations but have to say that as a male, when I bought a house on my own, and even when gf moved in, I hugely missed sharing with others, mostly another male, group of males, or even mixed group. Sharing with a group of males were the happiest days o my life. <sobs>
