Fish Pie

I want to make a fish pie but don't have time of an evening so want to make it in advance but not sure what stage to take it to.
Not sure whether to poach the fish first or just mix it uncooked in with the sauce but presumably I would then have to cook it in the oven straight away.
Anybody got any ideas please?

I poach the fish, add the sauce and veg. and pile the potato on top then it's ready to go into the oven later on. If I freeze it I let it defrost completely before carefully draining a bit of water from the bottom and then popping into the oven. By the way, my fish pies are generally white fish, smoked haddock and prawns or scallops.
