Can anyone explain why flies fly in circles underneath the lightshade in... well, in just about most rooms theres a lightshade attached to the ceiling?

I was thinking the exact same thing just today!!
Pointless answer I guess seeing as I don't know! Sorry : )

I think it is to do with the way that flies and moths use the sun and the moon to navigate.  When they get trapped inside, they try to navigate using the lightbulb as a guide - but in trying to keep the lightbulb to one side they end up flying in circles!

Maybe they get blinded by the light and cant see where they are going..Sorry, but hey...you never know !

some incects are atrakted to the light but im not shure about flys......................................
