Iv just getting back from holiday today to find my Insurance company has cancelled my policy after 1 month and charged me 25% which is £160 for failing to provide proof of no claims. I had sent my proof in which they claimed that they hadnt recieved straight away so when i recieved letter 10 days ago threatening to cancell my policy i rang them straight up and gave details of who previous insurer was. I informed them I was going on holiday and said that I would be back today. When i got home i had letter dated 28/8/09 saying to ring them as they where unable to trace proof from company I had given and where requiring more information. So on ringing them today i was told that policy was cancelled as hadnt been in touch and when i asked if i would get some of my deposit back i was informed that because my policy had been active for more than 14 days i would not get my deposit back which was £90 and that i would owe them a further £70. Also on the phone today they said they had recieved my letter containing proof of no claims from previous insurer but it didnt have a date on, which it does because i have a copy here? What can i do because i feel im being ripped off and i cant do anything about it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe too late to help but, if you can't sort it out with the company get in touch with Citizen's Advice or the Insurance Ombudsman:-
