So I posted this a while ago and at end I wasnt sure what to do if my mate asked me.
Anyway I thought I'd bring up the subject as she had baby last week. So I started off saying so are you religous then? And she said 'what do you mean' and I said 'well youre christened, are you religious' and she said 'Oh I didnt know thats what it was, I just wanted godparents for my children'
so is she having a ceremony?
some parents just have a naming ceremony. Some parents have the full christening whether they are really religious or not (bit like weddings)
Im a guideparent for my friends kids, no ceremony at all, was just a lovely party, with speeches by the parents and a celebration to welcome their child into the world.
who knows she had both her first two christened but didnt evene know what it was for!!! Its gonna make her look pretty stupid now if she says 'oh I'll have a baby naming ceremony as I;ve just realised what christened actually means' lol
My two eldest were Christened but my youngest had a 'belssing' and 'naming' ceremony as there was a new Vicar and we did not attend the church regularly. The idea was that when my youngest was old enough to decide which religion he could follow he could make up his own mind whether to be baptised.
he has done that and he is a member of the Old Trafford Congregation and the Church of Microsoft.
