Has anyone noticed the amount of time given over to advertising, which is annoying in itself, but also to interminable shot of the crowd, the panel saying yes or no to acts we have not even seen, the camera swing all over the place, 1 second shots of nothing in particular except applicants doing nothing and their familes cheering. On the other hand rubbish acts were given far too much time (How they manage to even get on the stage is baffling to me). I only noticed this becaiuse I had recorded it and seemed to spend most of my time fast forwarding. I know the advertising is a goldmine for Simon but if all the cr@p was cut out it would much more entertaining.

johnny37, i am in total agreement.
With a prime-time show, careful editing is essential to provide a sense of pace and excitement. The auditions in 'real time; would be seriously tedious, so they have to cut and paste quite a lot to keep things moving along.

The advertising is a necessary evil - it funds the show and reflects the massive viewing figures.

Personally, I would like far more lingering close-up slo-mo shots of Cheryl Cole, but that;s just me.
johnny - unfortunately the rubbish acts also make up the show - all the acts on X Factor go through other auditions before they actually get to see Simon & Company, then the rubbish ones are put in to balance out the show. The panel have a list of who is coming on next - the programme is carefully rehearsed.

I knew a chap that auditioned for X Factor 4 years ago - he said the whole thing seemed like a fix - he got through 2 auditions and then failed the 3rd.

Its purely just an entertainment show now rather than a talent contest. Personally, I think it has run it's course now. It has become very boring (although I did catch the last act on Saturday night and thought he was a true star)!
(And I also would miss Simon's lovely smile!!)

get sky+ and zip through all the sh1te!
I tuned in only to see what the 'panel' looked like these days - it didn't take long for me to switch off again!

We were off out anyway - much better entertainment there! ;o}
Johnny37...

If they cut out all the cr@p then there would be no programme....lol

the type of programme has run its course now.
