I thought England was a very tolerant country, but Scotland now seems to be the most tolerant country on earth. They even issue their national flag out, for the photo shoot of his homecoming.

As the sabotage was aimed at an American airliner carrying mostly Americans I wonder why he was not deported to the USA to serve his sentence. We have the habit of sending others with less serious offences to the USA. For instance that programmer who committed his crime in England is soon to be sent to the USA. Likewise those Al qaeda operatives.
So Rov, if you run over an American tourist outside your house, you would think it reasonable to face court in Texas, where they have the death penalty?

Prosecutions take place where the crime was committed.
So. The SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT finally steps onto the international stage and makes a complete horlicks of it. The problem is the British Government gets tarred with the same brush whilst remaining absolutely silent on the subject.

With a subject as emotive as this, the Scots should not have been left to make this decision on their own, and I very much doubt whether they were. I see the hand of big business and politics of the Mandy variety in this decision.

I consider it to be totally wrong. He showed no compassion for the families of the people killed, ergo, we should not have shown him any.
It's about as good as letting IRA murderers out of the Maze prison, when the peace deal was going on, but if you steal Government money (Great Train Robbery) that is MUCH worse and will get you 30 years!!!!!!!!!!!
Gromit he was tried in the Haque not in Scotland

Gromit is right. I think Megrahi was the fall guy. When truth's protective layers are revealed maybe we will learn the truth about 911 also!
he was tried under Scottish law by Scottish judges and found guilty. He was released on compassionate grounds by the Scottish government. There is no conspiracy, he is guilty
