They had the temerity to tell me they don't do fish and Chips either!

Well, I don't know if they stand for hours in a queue, but in some parts of Germany their equivalent of fish and chips is sausage and chips. You go to a shop that's similar to our fish and chip shops and you queue for a while, and you take your supper home from the sausage and chips shop.
Theme parks! We once queued for an hour for a ride in Disney!
down here in bristol to see the free banksy exhibition 2 hours waiting
Bakeries in France; when the queue is coming out of the door you know it's a good one. The french aren't patient people but will wait quite a while for a good baguette!
Here, in Ontario, there are long line-ups of cars at the drive-thru windows at "Tim Horton" coffe shops every morning. Quite often these lines extend onto the street and block regular traffic. Meanwhile, there's hardly anyone actually in the store buying coffee!
