I have a set of 8 " THE BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE" encyclopedias which my father gave me, i don't know exactly how old they are but it is a complete set. I believe they are from somewhere around the 1960 year, how can i tell what year they are and what they are worth? I can also tell you that the editor is GORDON STOWELL and the advisory editor is J. EDWARD MASON.

Sorry to say, but not a lot I think. We tried to sell a set about the age of yours, and no takers. How about donating them to a charity shop? They might be able to find a good home for them. Sad isn't it?
Nok is looking for bargains @ 3 - grab it!

As big sister says not a lot. My father bought us set (about 1960) and I remember that they were quite expensive at the time. My sisters and I used them a lot and when I eventually got a computer and upgraded to a CD of Britannica I tried selling, but got no offers. In the end I gave them to a friend who helped run a community centre and they're there to this day obviously out of date, looking a bit worse for wear but stilling doing the job they were made for
