How can I get rid of tiny red spiders?

You can buy a spray-on laquer called deathlak or similar from most hardware stores like wilko's. You simply spray it onto a hard surface like skirtings or window sills and any creepy-crawleys that venture onto it die within minutes. After a short while the rest of the gang seem to get suspicious of their declining number and move on. Once the laquer has dried it is not harmful to pets. A stronger version is availble from a vet. This is called nuvan and you need to sign a poisons register to get it.
I once shared a house with a hippy who did not believe in pesticides of any kind. He spent ages each day spraying spider mites off his 'plants' with a water spray.

Wilkinsons / Wilko's, same thing. Bet Woolworth sell it too
