I have had thyroid disease for many years and take I take 150mgms of thyroxine a day.

I recently had a blood test and the TSH (I think that is wot they call it ) came back high.

Do I reduce my dose of thyroxine or lower it? My doctor seems a bit confused about it.

as a last resort - ring your (or just THE) endocrinologist at the hospital
... you'll get the secretary - but certainly mine rings back within a couple of hours if it's a genuine question.

doctors are good at simple things - but speciallists are there for a reason .... I've had similar wrangles with my doctor - I had to insist on being referred to (what I hoped) was the correct - but different speciallist when my thyroid packed up (hyper) because of heart medication and the pills were making me worse

The day after I - visited the thyroid man ... and he revealed that he'd been talking to the heart guy and had refered me that morning.

the heart tabs were changed ... I'm feeling better already
