Three weeks ago, I saw a number of comments here complaining that ev 868 was too easy. I hate to imagine what they will be saying about today's ev 871.

For the first time ever, I completed it before lunch and now I am in the unfamiliar position of having the choice of when to submit the entry. Does anyone know what strategy optimises the chance of a win? An early post? or a last-minute post?

(Though with the masses of entrants this week, I imagine the chances will be very slim anyway.)

Well put Gen2,
Devadolly get back here immediately and prove your claim to be a wordsmith, or at least a true graduate from the Establishment!! Negative IQ, I think not!!
Have a realy good time with yor daughter, and then a super holiday dr. b, I don't think Herself would even consider camping, where-ever it may be as being acceptable holidaywise thede days! Even not as acceptable as the phrase of this week's EV!
See you on 876! ciao,

Devadolly, forget Manchester.

Yes the postprandial tipple is very relevant.
I thought bling and Manchester were spot on.
Sorry, the connection with 'Bling' and 'Manchester' is lost on me.
Hello mister Eguest and welcome to the madhouse! Bling - sparkly bits in jewellery and a district of M/c.
All you are doing is arguing among yourselves about the obscurity of my references and not telling me what the connections are! Like 15 into 13, Mancunian bling and havens?
Didn't say negative DocHH only said dropped 80 points. I'm allegic to ctteespeak having far too much to do with the PC brigade who prefer to use 73 words where 7 will do!
drb - did you say camping? I don't think so................I have gone all weak at the thought.

Here is a dingbat:

T I a s t i t c h M E

it translates into 'A Stitch In Time'

With that in mind, take another look at those 13 characters across the centre.
Oh aren't you a little gem Gen2?! You will have to put 25 candles in a jar of Raspberry & Loganberry jam instead of a cake.
I had the correct phrase but as I am totally stupid re dingbats (my horrid nieces/nephews send them to me just to see how long it takes me to get even near to the answer - little beasts!) I would probably never have cottoned on. Now...........................bling & M/c is that a dingbat??
Hello all
Good to see the N&C back to full force. I haven't even seen last Sunday's paper yet alone had time to start EV. Very busy at work - coproduced a talent show on Monday , on the lines on Britain's Got Talent. A very successful if late night after months of preparation. Yesterday we took the school concert band to Chester to perform in a celebration and were late back after a mishap with the coach (its boot cover was ripped off by a minibus) so another late night. Still - we finish for 6 weeks on Friday :-)
Hello ringer,
How does co-producing a talent show fit in with maths, more maths and hard maths? Or am I missing something with the current educational syllabus?
Plus, we are still missing a few N&Cers, eg, Physicsgirl and copelander, and novalis has only checked in once! Previous EV threads have lead to over 40 posts. I am pleased to see however no reference to DC!!
Just to prove you wrong DocHH, I am relaxing in there as we speak, listening to a rather good rendition of Handel's Coronation Anthems with a pot of my special brew coffee and an elegant Mary Wesley novel! Had a Tetenus(?) jab on Tuesday and it has 'gone badways' so am on strike as the arm hurts. Don't worry, it's only my brain that is in there - as usual (unusable arm or not) the body is checking emails before getting lunch and picking (yet more) blasted currants!
Still don't see the connectoion.
