hi I suffer from chronic sinusitis and ive got an appt at ENT in couple of weeks.I usually do a steam ihalation a couple of times a day.Ive read somewhere you can buy a device to help clear out your sinuses, its called a something pot I cant remember peti or seti ? pot does anyone know the name I cant remember it,and has anyone used one and how do you use it.Also I had a CT scan is this normal for sinusitis?and the gland just under my ear has been up for a while like a lump.It goes up and down,if I miss a steam inhalation a day it goes bigger, also I sometimes get sore throat & hoarse voice.Sorry all the questions, just wondering if anyone else had similar problems.
Thanks

!) Neti Pot....never used it, but simple instructions.
2)CT scan is routine for sinusutis
3) Gland under your ear is nothing to do with your sinusutis.
4) Sore throat and hoarseness may be a manifestation of you nasal problems

The lump that goes up and down below your ear could be a lymph gland which needs looking at, but it could also be a blocked salivary gland. You ENT surgeon will eaxamine this aspect.

Not to worry.

Thanks for your reply,im worried know about the lump, could it be cancer? It does change in size,is painless unless i mess with it then it aches sometimes.Whenever ive had a cold or felt run down in the past the same lump used to come up,but it would disappear.my gp gave me antibiotics a couple of months ago for sinusitis, after the course the lump went down quite a lot.Any advice anyone?
thanks
Very very unlikely to be malignant............lymph node or parotid cyst.

Don't worry mystic.

That was a quick reply thanks.Ive been worrying a lot (but im that kind of person). They did the CT scan of my neck&thorax on 11th of March my appt at ENT is 29th April,if it was something nasty do you think they would have phoned to get me in earlier by now ?Im just hoping its nothing too serious and I don`t need surgery as Im really scared.
thanks
mystic.....just guessing, but you might need a sinus operation called FES (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery)...done through the nose...no cutting.....as a Day Case or overnight stay. Just a guess based on what you have told me.

thanks again for your quick reply,I mean for the cyst would that need surgery.Ive just googled and read/looked and dont like what i see.
A small cyst MIGHT need surgery, but no big deal.
A lymph gland MIGHT need biopsy, but no big deal.

Stop worrying.

Hi, from another worrier. I had an appointment with the ENT clinic about my sinuses and I was told I had a deviated Septum. Also he felt a "lump" in one of the salivary lands under the jaw. That was 31 March 2009 and I have not yet heard back. He said that the lump had to be dealt with before he could sort out my nasal problems. I am worried that this could be cancer. I have had pain for about 5 months now just under the jaw line. Any one had this problem before? Thanks

hi puzzie,I sympathise sometimes the worrying is worse than the actual problem. All I can say is get on to the hospital, chase it up or maybe tell your GP and he/she can write to them.

Hi
I had my op to remove the lump in my neck on 1st June.Everythings ok it was benign thank god !! I had it done under local cos Im a coward, and was too scared to have a general. Its all healing nicely now and have small scar which im not bothered about. The diagnosis was persistent lymphodanopathy(spelling?)
I had a pre-op blood test which showed up low thyroid levels and im now on meds for it,and i feel much better, more energy sinuses better, generally feeling healthier physically and mentally. The blood test I had in November 2008 thyroid levels were normal.Ive got to get another blood test in a month to see how thyroid levels are after Ive been taking the tablets.
