Well Meriden is supposed to be the middle of England so I suppose it is also furthest from the sea.

somewhere around oxford way?

I think Loosehead is right, Meriden

Maybe not!  Lindleyhillfarm

The 'gravitational' centre of a mass (as used by the Ordnance Survey with the new result of Lindley Hall Farm) is not necessarily the same place as that which is equidistant from the closest points on its perimeter (i.e. coastline).

e.g. if the UK was U-shaped the gravitational centre would be somewhere out to sea (but within the bowl of the U).

That said, I don't know the answer to this question!

From the BBC News Website "It could be argued the centre of Britain is the furthest point from the sea.
The Ordnance Survey says this point lies just east of Church Flatts Farm, about a mile south-east of Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire."

Thanks for the information to all that have replied. A look on the Ordnance Survey website says the further most point from the sea in the British Isles is at grid reference SK 257144.

This lies just east of Church Flatts Farm, approximately 1 mile south-east of Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire.

Thanks again all.

Hi Corbyloon,

Your prize is the knowledge that you won't get splattered by Seagulls or a Kiss-Me-Quick hat at Church Flats Farm!

I dont live that far from there, rubbish if you want to go to the seaside!
