Mine was and still is - Horslips, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Steve Miller Band and the list goes on.  I also like Lonestar, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and lots of the new American Country Singers.
When I really started listening to music as opposed to taping ToTP and the Sunday night top 40 onto a C90, I was into Jean Michel Jarre and Queen. Hit 16 and decided I needed an identity so got into the Indie scene, grew my hair and rebelled etc. Mid twenties and expendable income was pretty high so clubbing was high on the agenda and along came my interest in electronic music once again. More into the groups that produce the music and not these DJ people who, for some reason, make a fantastic amount of money from other people's hard work. Oh, and I like my rock. Life wouldn't be the same without a good air guitar session once a week!

Hi Peri, My musical tastes haven't changed since punk hit the scene. I can't listen to bland, meaningless lyrics with my music; I have to hear words that mean something, preferably accompanied by music that has guts and feeling. So the best band ever, ever in the world are Stiff Little Fingers, no question. But I also enjoy the Clash, the Sex Pistols (for a bit of a laugh), Killing Joke, the Damned, the *********, etc. I also like a lot of the younger bands whose music my son enjoys too, such as the Offspring and Green Day, etc.

Don't know where ********* came from in my reply! It was the name of a band beginning Buzz... so I think it must have been edited for some reason. Didn't think it was an offensive name or anything myself!

That leads to the question - what is more important music or lyrics ???????
That's very true. I guess for you to listen to it in the first place the music has to attract you, but then the lyrics get you 'into' it. That's me anyway. I do like a lot of music that has no lyrics or contains lyrics I don't understand, but I just can't seem to 'connect' with the 'poppy' stuff. I really do think that 'proper' music is written from the heart, rather than 'pop' music, which is more like a jingle: 'Hey, that's catchy, let's sell it'.
