Did I miss it but when was this topic mentioned in the recent election campaign? No mention at all as I remember, then all of a sudden it's at the top of the governments' agenda. Blair was right. He listened to the electorate, and nobody said anything about mileage charging so it's ok to bring it in then. We've been suckered again eh? But it won't work. Whether you're for it or against it. Why? Did you ever know a government computer that worked properly? DSS, Passport Office, CSA, Inland Revenue, DVLA, all quality services eh? And that's why the ID Card won't work either. Computers are wonderful aren't they? Everybodys' works just fine don't they? No problems. No power cuts. No crashing. No freezing or locking. No blue screen. No big red X with a baffling message. Get into the real world Mr. Darling and stop dreaming!

Well here in Spain I have had an ID card for 34 yrs and NEVER any problems with it.  I have absolutely no objections to carrying one as I have nothing to hide.
