You do not say you are staying with same provider or not.

Assuming you are then to transfer contacts I would insert old sim into new phone, copy contacts onto phone memory, remove old sim and put in new sim, move contacts from phone memory to sim card.

To copy pics etc using bluetooth, make sure both phones bluetooth are visible, on old phone select pic to send via bluetooth, search for available bluetooth devices, select your new phone then send, new phone should ask you to accept pic from old phone. Repeat for rest.
My earlier answer was based on you getting a new sim card with new number, if you are keeping old sim/number then just make sure contacts are on sim card when you change phones.

Thank you mm for your prompt answer, I shall be changing provider from O2 to Virgin, I am also hoping to retain my present number by asking O2 to provide me with the PAC Code. Also as both phones are PAYG will O2 charge for giving out the PAC Code ?
No they have to give you a PAC and its no cost.usually now takes just a couple of days to port over your number after giving PAC to new provider
