Did Hewlett snatch Madeleine?

Aparently Hewlett has mislead police, and did not own a blue Dodge van at the time Madeleine went missing. A former friend has contacted the McCann's private detectives to inform them that he did, in fact, own a white mercedes van, just like the one that was parked near the apartment the night she went missing. Why would he mislead the police? It's looking increasingly likely that he knows more than he is letting on.

Alan and Cindy Thompson said Hewlett was living with his wife and six children in a converted Dodge truck travelling from campsite to campsite.

the storys are contradictory.

but reading that hewlett was a serial abuser over many years i wouldnt want anything to do with him or his friends and id be wary of their motives , possible finacial with the madeline fund maybe ?

It was noted in Police Reports 2 years ago, but it's not been considered significant until now. However, I'm led to believe that the owner of the white van has never come forward to eliminate themselves from the enquiry.

Did the Thompsons not meet Hewlett until a while after Madeleine went missing? Could he not have sold the Mercedes van and bought a Dodge van in between the time Madeleine went missing and he first met Alan and Cindy Thompson?

As the private Investigators have no legal authority any suspect can mess them about with impunity. To be honest I can't say I blame any suspect for twisting and turning the P.I.s as they go about giving names to the press with little or no fiorm evidence and no come-back.

Dropping his name out to the press was, in my opinion, a good move. That way, people who recognise him can come forward with information that may be significant and may help to eventually find her. How else would detectives have got that information from the Thompsons?
