To all who wished me well with my proposed new job - many thanks.

I didn't get the job, not because I wasn't the best candidate, I was I am advised, but because they have withdrawn the vacancy and decided to fill the responsibilities with someone already in that job area.

So - either they are incompetant, and don't know what they are doing, or there was some chicanery - either way I have been frozen out - the third time this has happened.

Are they trying to tell me something?

The cads!!!!

May they have loose bowel syndrome for a year!
No, don't worry. It probably means the HR department are following the rules and advertising the job and interviewing people, but actually the company/boss etc. actually has decided to fill the position with someone already employed who they have molded to their satisfaction.

That and the credit crunch is making people incredibly nervous about hiring. Usually they can get away with offering an internal a lower salary than they would have to offer to a new person. If it's someone coming through a company scheme their salaries can be capped/structured meaning a large discrepancy between their pay and that of outside hires. (a close friend of mine was in this exact position. She was on a grad scheme and her salary was capped, yet her exact job was being advertised at a salary that was well in excess of her own, about a 1/3 extra! Obviously she put her foot down and luckily this was just before the credit crisis hit so she got a raise, but you can see why companies would do it).

I need to start looking for a job ASAP and it's looking a bit bleak. I've decided to take the view that I'll probably get turned down loads based on sheer number of applicants, so I've just got to keep trying. Once you've secured one job, you're always employable after that.

Good luck!
Andy...remember what I said:

some internal politics going on there. I'd employ you :o)

if I could!
PS There's probably a good chance that there was some incompetancy along the way!
Hi Andy - sorry about the job - know how you feel though - my son has recently been turned down for 3 jobs - its uttterly sole destroying. Qualifications seem to mean zilch these days.

Hope you have some luck soon - I notice you are great in the counselling department Andy - perhaps you could divert into this area !

xx
I'm sorry to hear that Andy but I suspect it's probably as Pigletion says. Is there no way you could concentrate on the music side a bit more or would that not bring in as much money?
Sorry to hear that Andy.
Hi China.....found your mojo yet? ;-) xx
Hi Andy

Really sorry this job opportunity did'nt work out for you........sounds like they had already made up their minds and were 'just going through the motions'.........so unfair!.........BUT there will, hopefully, be others soon, so good luck to you, andy.
