I stayed at Butlins Minehead in February last year and went on an interesting walk.

As you stand on the sea front, with Butlins behind you and the sea in front of you, you get the town on your left, with a large hill.

On the large hill is a church, but around that church is an amazing old village that I bet most people who visit Minehead know nothing about.

There are a number of different ways up to it, via roads or footpaths, in fact if you visit the tourist information shop in the town they will give you a street map to help you.

When you get up there then you can see the church, some lovely old thatched cottages, some narrow lanes, it is like another world.

You also get some great views of the bay (and Butlins)

Here is also a published walk round the town, which is quite interesting and can while away a couple of hours.

For example, did you know Arthur C Clarke, the writer and inventor, was born in Minehead?

Minehead is right by the Exmoor National Park

Take a trip on the West Somerset Railway. or a visit to Dunster and have a wander around the castle and gardens.
Or try this for a day out further afield near Bideford, The Big Sheep. It's fun, and not just for kids.

The West Somerset Steam Railway is also based in the town

We were posting at the same time (look at the times)...

and I have also just noticed you mentioned Dunster Castle, which I also just posted.

A couple of miles west of Minehead is a lovely coastal village with harbour called Porlock Weir.

It is a nice place to vist on a sunny day, and it has a pub for sitting and watching the world go by

This web site below may help.

And as I said, it may be worth visting to Tourist Information Centre in the town (details on the web site)
