I often send my competitions in by post and sometimes enter the same competition online. Am I doubling my chance of winning (not that I do win very often)or is there some system by which all entries,posted,phoned,texted or online are considered together?

I would say all entries are included. You could enter the competition 10 times and each one would be entered, no matter how you entered.
