It's the title of a short story by L.P. Hartley, published in 1932.
There is also a South African novel called "The Killing Bottle" by Jane Fox.

X111   please may I ask if you are doing sunday times where am l competition with this question and glad of answer of author could you please advise if this is the second writer for birthplace or is it D;L;SAYERS.

Hardly cricket, researching the quiz questions by asking others to answer them for you. How about using Google?
I realise it's too late for this week's competition but the answer should be Wittlesey. Both answers were very easy to find on Google - I did them in about two minutes on Sunday - but I've been away until today.
