Really, Joy ?

I thought "mardy" was more common in the North.

It's a jolly word, and very adaptable, because

... it's an adjective ...

("Alex Ferguson got all mardy")

... and an adverb ...

("Alex Ferguson did congratulate Barcelona, but in a mardy sort of way")

... and a noun ...

("Alex Ferguson had a right mardy")
