Ron Folland 1932-1999 is/was a very popular painter, much reproduced. Are you sure it's an original? They do exist and could be worth a few hundred pounds, depending on size and condition, but there are a lot of prints around and there is a fair amount of "doctoring" going on - taking a print and then covering it in a varnish to give the surface effect of brushstrokes which to a quick glance very much resembles an original oil. Your picture sounds similar at least to one of his most popular subjects "Canal de Paris".

thanx for the info,i actually think its a reprint, ive had it for the last 16 years, its immaculate condition
Ron Folland was a Hampshire man, living in Horndean near Portsmouth.
I bought an original Ron Folland in 1971, for 375 which was roughly the amount left me by my mother.
So it is my legacy.. not that I would part with it!
I would be interested to know if it was ever reproduced. It is a scene of Paris at sunset, and is called 'Evening Boulevard'.
Also (for my son, at a very much later stage, I hope) it's approximate value.
I do realise that he has gone out of fashion, but his pictures gave a lot of pleasure.
