I've just watched Ashes to Ashes for the first time ever - but only caught the last half an hour. The girl and a (mysterious?) man have clearly travelled back in time. Can anyone tell me how and why it happened - and are they the only two?

You could really do with watching the series before this which was called Life on Mars - this will explain everything. If you can get a copy of the series it would be most definitely well worth the watch/money rather than trying to explain it all online. However, if this does not help maybe check out on the Internet the story of the programme Life on Mars and the follow up series Ashes to Ashes. Hope this helps.
