My 18 month old tom cat has suddenly turned vicious for not apparent reason. Jumped up at me as I stood, wide eyed and teeth snarlling. Split second instinct made me put my arm across my face. All down my arm are nasty bite marks which would have been across my face (and maybe eyes) if I didn't instinctivelty put my arm up. He has never been a particularly friendly cat but I have never been attacked like this before. I am now scared of him. What should I do?

Well lets all just pray to god that all this care and understanding to a vicious cat that attacked its owner doesnt blind somebody or mutilaye them. While we are at it why dont we invite osama bin laden over to the uk for counciling.

well i hope it goes ok either way totter but be careful at least! like wear thick gardenning gloves when you handle the crazy monstrous thing.
goo luck
Trying to sit on both sides of the fence doesn't wash, as you were told earlier today.
Totterdown- Ignore BS( we know what his name is an anagram for- how crude+ ghastly) please. Totterdown- have you seen the vet with your tom cat? What is the latest? Hope all is well now- keep us in the loop please as plenty do actually care about you + the cat Totterdown.
Warm wishes, Bea :-)
schwarticof . what do you mean on both sides? i stick to what I originally said. rid this monstrous cat from the human race because it is a serious threat. If you think me admitting what I said is insensitive is the same as bieng on both sides then I really cant say anything about that without insulting you. I dont like insulting people no matter what their iq level is you see.
Maybe if I had said electrically stun the cat and then pump a short piece of steel in its head is that acceptable? because that is what happens every day to cows, pigs, sheep etc just so you 'animal lovers who never would do anything to harm an animal' can have a tasty meal.
there are meat substitutes these days but you would rather a poor innocent animal get murdered. wow it just doesnt compute in my head
oh Beatrice just so you know one or the most sensible helpful ABers name is CHuckFickens

so if you think mine is bad then think again my dear
and its not an anogram its a spoonerism. right I am going I have had enough of you lot

dont miss me too much darlings
Do not like the name of the poster that you mentioned either- why be crass, what is the point?! Catch more insects with honey than with vinegar that is my saying. Anyway, Totterdown wants helpful comments as it must be a most challenging time for him especially right now. Totterdown's cat is his pet- a beloved pet. There can be many reasons for his change in behaviour including pain that is why he needs to get this feline to the Vets first and foremost. Hope to hear from you soon T

Thank you Beatrice 35 for your comments. I did answer yesterday to say the cat has no physical ailment and the vet said perhaps he was frightened by another cat. He seems to have calmed down now but I will watch him of course. I was going to reply to BeatySwalls post of last night at 23.16 then I thought why should I give him ammunition for more of his cruel comments. Then I read what he said today and it beggers belief. On one hand he is saying shoot the animal and using comments such as crazy and monstrous to describe him, then he is suggesting everyone else is cruel to animals because we eat meat. How are those comments supposed to tally with each other if he has animals welfare at heart? He might try to goad me into replying direct to his no doubt messages to come, BUT I WILL NOT. HE IS NOT WORTH IT AND I SUGGEST EVERYONE ELSE IGNORES HIM. It is noticeable that not one single person on this thread has agreed with him. He really is the lowest of the low. Its no good saying he should be ashamed of himself, because he does not know what shame is. I would like to think he would be banned from Answerbank.
totter... how is ur cat today? has he settled down to his normal routine? (well, his own cat's routine that is.. they have their own ways)
chuck is a helpful poster unlike the one who isn't going to be mentioned :)
hope he and you are both ok

lol totter does the truth hurt? nothing like to be an ostrich hiding away from reality. questioning your own morality takes a big person but I see you preffer to just attack the ones who make you question. very interesting indeed. i may be banned from AB but I have in fact done nothing to break any rules. all I have done is offer advice and say a few opinions. thats what happens on forums lol

maybe you should make yourself a nice cup of tea and put a bit of clasical FM on and play with your little bundle of joy of a cat :)
Totterdown, pleased to hear that your cat is much better today. Yes, best to ignore such posters as these who make such ridiculous/nasty/unhinges comments. Have more than one- nasty pedants- on Q&P whom like to regularly taunt me ( expect me to be flogged for just daring to answer a question wrong even though put a question mark after the answer if not sure) + have even made suggestions that am mentally ill which could not be further from the truth anyhow. There are some nasty people on AB that is for sure yet best to just ignore them as they want you to take the bait anyhow + besides they are the real ones with problems not like the likes of us. Besed to focus on the positives- you have had + I receive plenty of positive comments. Wish all the pedants + cruel posters would be banned- yet the ED of AB does not seem to care one iota! Legs ache big time so must rest just as hubby said to. Take care T + keep being You :-) Warmest wishes, Bea :-)
wowsa if you writye that much about someone you are ignoring I would sure like to se how much you write about someone you are paying attention to :)
