Just listened to Bob Dylans latest album "Together through time"
I have been and always will be one of his greatest fans, but this is not good. He should have quit while he was ahead.
Any one else got any thoughts?

dylan winter was much more interesting
Lot of people obviously disagree as he is at No 1.
Not heard it myself but have heard a some good critique of it.
No, I won't be buying it as i'm not a fan
I have to say I was a great fan of Dylan during the 60s and 70s, but stopped listening in the mid 70s period (I still have all his early albums, LPs, in my loft).

Funnily enough I was listening to Blood on the Tracks yesterday and thinking what a great album it was.

Then I heard about him being number 1, so went into Amazon to listen to samples of the tracks from the album.

I have to say it was SO BAD it nearly made me cry. The voice had gone, it was all croaky and painful to listen to.

I cannot say how anyone can call this good enjoyable music.

Just go and listen to say "Tangled up in Blue" off Blood on the Tracks, then tell me this new stuff is even a patch on it.

Go to Amazon here, and select Preview All to hear part of each track.

Now go and press Preview All on this album and tell me the new stuff is even a patch on it

One of the problems some fanatic music fans have is that they believe EVERY song or album a certain artist does is great, even when it obvisouly isn't.

I am a big Steely Dan fan, and loved their early albums, but then a few years ago they returned with two "new" albums (Two Against Nature being one of them).

And to be honest they are not a patch on their early albums.

Yet you read the reviews on Amazon and loads of people give the albums 5 out of 5.

Often they are voting on how good they WANT the album to be, rather than how good it actually is.

While there are certain bands and singers that I love, I am not fanatical enough to believe that every track or album they record is good.

In the same way that not every film an actor makes is good, or every book an author writes is good.

There are so many Dylan fanatics who WANT his new music to be good, but they dont really judge it honestly.

It would be interesting if they listened to the album BEFORE being told who it was, would they think it was good then. Probably not.
I'm not a fan but got this off itunes for a friend.
Oddly I quite like it.
I'va always loved Dylan - and yes, Blood on the Tracks is his peak. But his output has always been hit and miss, like his concerts. In fairness, his best is beyond fabulous (Tangled Up In Blue...wow), but his worst is mediocre.
