Hello, i recently work 10th & 13th april which was on the bank holiday, i have been told by my hr dept that i won't be paid this til the end of the following month (may) is this illegal and if so what can i do about it! I have never heard of this in all my working life nor has anyone i've spoken including my manager? I was working on the understanding that if you worked before the cutoff period for wages monthly (i.e before 15th of the month) you would be paid the bank holiday/overtime payment then?

Thanks Inadvance Gary

No it's not illegal. There's nothing you can do about it.

I suspect that the reason you were not paid is that whoever put the details in (?your manager) failed to do so by the cut off date. In other words, is not when you worked that matters but when HR were told about it.
