Australia beat NZ at cricket. But the world was probably too busy looking for Shergar to notice.
some people died. some got born and some went to work. a house got demolished ,someone broke a leg, someone had chicken for dinner, someone got lost, and someone crashed their car. lots of stuff happened

I turned 75 days old.

(That'll be the answer you're looking for.)

Something rather special.  My son was born in November 1983!

I turned 10 years old! :)

Police hunt Shergar's horseknappers?

Back to Shergar.  Apparently the IRA sent one of his legs back to the owners as an inducement to pay the ransom and said they had better pay up quick or the horse would never race again.
Just type the date in any search engine and you will find plenty from that date
Myron, I can't stop laughing!
Shergar was kidnapped.
Obviously IndieSinger didn't notice because he was too busy training Mr and Mrs Singer to change his nappies at the time.
strictly speaking I think Shergar was kidnapped the night before. Googling does of course turn up plenty from that date, but it is all utter dross. If bluedog is doing a quiz he may be out of luck.

The bbc.co.uk website has an "on this day" web page type thingy.  Might be useful if you ever get questions like this again.  I know some people have an issue with giving weblinks as answers - but i hope this may help.

Looks like the Shergar thing is the right answer - this website just helps to confirm it.  Unless the answer you wanted was "acw turned 1 month and 6 days old" - in which case I've solved it for you anyway! :-)

Thought it was Shergars ear that the IRA sent, hardly proves the identity of the horse mind unless he had specific ear rings in at the time of capture.
Many thanks for the link, acw. Much appreciated!
Another good place to look for this kind of thing is Wikipedia.
Heee i was born just over a month later!
My last days of freedom - I met and asked out my future wife on 12/2/83, having finished with my previous girlfriend on 8/2/83.
