My mum completely disowned me once in Boots in about 1979. Never mind genes & all things maternal - she turned her back on me & pretended she hadn't seen me when I knew darn well she had.
Any Why? Because I was in my 'scruff' phase & I had jeans with holes in the knees, a brown duffel coat & a canary yellow sweatshirt that had emblazoned on it "Virginity is like a bubble - one prick & it's gone forever".

I know what she was thinking "Why can't she be more like her sister - and wear skirts and be smart?".

It has had a profound effect on my life.

Both my parents disowned me. My dad drunk all the time and my mum did as she was told. I walked out when I was 15 one day because I couldn't stand being hit and watching my mum being beaten up anymore. When I realised I actually had no where to go I went home but my dad wouldn't let me in and stood in the window with his middle finger stuck up at me. I spent 2 weeks in January sleeping rough as I had no where to go, the police picked me up and took me home where they were told I wasn't wanted. I ended up being fostered and my parents moved house without telling me. Nearly 10 years on I still do not know where they are, where my older brother or younger sister are.
:-( its true, cried my little heart out
oh CAJ thats just awful!
Disown me? never.........my mother was "rite" proud of her little b@stard. My Dad? never met him as he disowned me at birth.
I got over it redcrx and re-built my life without them (not to say I don't ever wonder about them). As they say, you can't choose your family but you can choose your friends :o)

Can I just interject?!!!!
rinkins - you can have it if I can find it. It would only have been a size 10 - no way could I get my boobs in that now! It will be a little faded - a bit like an old washed duster.

I loved it. (Mother didn't). If I had lived at home at that time, she would have "had an accident with the iron on hot" - luckily I had well left home by then. Hee Hee.
Hi NoMercy

It was so romantic, like in films! I wore a pretty dress to the airport (I'm sure everyone else was wondering why lol!). His granny told me I looked a million dollars, bless her. I was soooo nervous and I cried when I saw him and we had the biggest hug ever and he told me I looked very nice. Everyone in the airport seemed to be watching! When we got home he said he had done a lot of thinking while he was away and thought I was brilliant :o)
Then we went away for a long weekend in Paris, he treated me so much and made me feel really special xx

Sorry for taking over your post sallbananas x
Ohh CAJ1 - which dress did you pick - remember you posting them on here - must be lovely to have him home.

My home life was abit like yours but I didn't leave til I went to uni. Funnily enough my hubby had much the same childhood but we are in contact with his mum as much as anything so our kiddiwinks have a grandparent but we never leave her alone with them
I ordered both crazycathy and returned them both because neither of them were right lol! After all that too! I ended up wearing a strapless dark brown dress which was knee length with flower print on it (it was pretty) and I wore brown wedges with a cork bottom to them. it is lovely to have him home.

I think more kids than we realise have a bad upbringing and I can't for the life of me understand why. I couldn't imagine having kids and doing the same to them as my parents did to me xx
