My sister is thinking of moving to France in the future. In the meantime, she is thinking of renting somewhere there for up to 6 months, to see if she likes it. She would come back to the UK approx once a month to visit etc. Would she be covered under normal 'travel insurance'? I know some policies only cover for up to 45 days. Any help much appreciated!

The only way to be absolutley sure is to ask the insurance company and get it in writing
The only way to be absolutely sure is to ask the insurance company and get it in writing - there are policies out there specially designed for extended periods of travel but there are so many different policies available it is best to explain your circumstances fully to the insurer so that there can be no misunderstanding on either side. I would recommend seeing a reputable broker - but then I would because I am one ;-)

Thanks for that, Woozer!
I've looked up some companies on the Internet, but it's a minefield! Half the problem is that she has no firm plans, so I can't say how long she wants to go for etc. Anyway, I'll pass that onto her. Thanks again, Muzz
