Is there any way of finding out who's calling by just the phone number? like a reverse version of directory, type in the number and it tells you who was calling, thanks.

Reverse phone number lookups are illegal in the UK

Try just entering the number in google, if it's a business you will quite often get a result.

My answerphone (known as "the hand") is my screen ... if there isn't a number shown ... it's international or it's not a familiar number they get to talk to the hand (as the young people say)

if they are legit or sound interesting ... I pick up the phone

If I'm feeling bad I play "just looking for him"
when they ask to talk to the troll ... I ask them to wait while I find him ... go back every 30 seconds to say he's on his way ... or at the door ... my record is almost 10 minutes
