Engine management light?

Hi, i've had a problem now for a few months (maybe longer), I have a vauxhall corsa 98 1.2 8v. I've noticed when i've been driving for not so long, when i'm coming to a stop and the revs get low, the car seems to stutter, the engine management light comes on and the car will cut out. However, if I catch it just before it cuts out and rev it quite high, it's fine then, but the engine management light stays on until I finish my journey. Ive tried everything, had it serviced, had a diagnostics check etc and nobody seems to know the answer to my problem. I'm getting fed up with it now.

Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Thanks

Pete

Sounds like idle air control valve. Had this problem on our vauxhall - especially on a warm engine. Had to have it done at a main dealer.

thanks dee59, was it expensive?
We had it done in 2002. Hubby says its was quite expensive - 120 at the time (he thinks!).

Sorry, i've just realised that the idle air control valve was replaced about a month ago, I took it to Nationwide Auto Centre, its the seal inbetween the fuel injection system and the manifold isn't it?
