Apologies if this is not the right place to do this, but does anyone know of spmeone who can transfer old video cassettes to DVD in the Southport area . I have quite a few from when the children were little. Thanks
The main options are diy using a vhs and dvd recorder if you have neither beg or borrow from friends or neighbours.
Or if you're feeling flush you can pay someone to do it. Most camera shops such as Jessops offer a servvice as well as local indepentent camera shops. Costs vary some charge per tape others charge on the amount of footage e.g. 1 hr of transfer time for 10.
If you are paying someone else to do it it is worth reviewing the material first to make sure it is worth paying for.
I've just done a family compilation tape that had an hours worth of various films in the middle. Had I not reviewed it first that would have been a waste of time and dvd space.
I have just turned all my tapes into DVD, going back at least 45 years, with the use of a combines video/DVD recorder. I think you can find one for just over 100.00. That will be a lot cheaper than paying 10.00 or so a reel. It is well worth when they are converted.
