links on blogger

i have a blog on blogger (or blogspot) and it won't show any links. i use the little 'add link' button. any ideas?

Hi feistycurves, I have a Blogger blog too. I use the html gadget instead as that allows me to use code which will tell the links to open in a new window when clicked, but it so happens I did play around with the link gadget only yesterday and it was working for me. I know this is an annoying question but are you sure you've done everything you're supposed to, i.e. 1) provided the url where you want your readers to be directed when they click the link, 2) given your link a name and 3) saved the whole thing? Is it possible you've named your link in the title field instead of in the name-the-link field? The title field is for the headline, for instance My Links - or whatever. Anyhoo, if memory serves (remember, this was yesterday;-) this is how to do it - and, as I said, don't forget to Save.

(Or do you already have a functional link list and you're trying to add a new link and it's just the new one that won't show?)

Oh I see. Well the thing seems to be you have to give the link a name for it to show, you can't just post the "naked" url. So what you do is you first write the name for your link, highlight (choose) the title you've written and then you paste the url into the field which appears when you click the add-link-button (the chain icon). Don't forget to first remove the little h tt p:// that's already there.

Should your add-link-button actually be out of use you can write the code yourself, it's the same string that AnswerBank uses for giving your links here a name and you'll find it in the Tutorial (see what I just did there;-)

On AB you can post a link without naming it first:

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ABTutorial.html

...but that doesn't seem to be possible in Blogger.
