i recently had a bash in the bad snow - not my fault, but the other persons insurance company wrote my car off....
so - after WEEKS they finall decided that my car wasnt "economically repairable" - but its just cosmetic damage really... its just an old car.

they never told me what catagory write off this was, and im still paying insurance on the vehicle - it still drives perfect...
its taxed and MOT'd... its perfect... just with a crumpled back bumper...

can anyone let me know what i do next?

Ask them for an offer if you think it OK, except it but some insurers at times keep the car.in that case offer them to purchase it back. the bumpers can be bought from your local scrap yards depending what car it is, they are not that dear.

Thanks, where I am now with this is that the insurers have paid me the money, and said that the car becomes my property to dispose of at my own convenience.... But I don't want to get rid of it, I really like the car.
Can I still drive it?
It has tax, mot & it's fully insured.

You have no problem now Gumball, you have gained but your car will be listed insurance wise as a right off of the lower category, just a word of advise, if the rear bumper is showing signs of jagged edges either tape them up or replace the bumper as people are very quick to see a way to get money throught defects/ cuts/ you know what I mean.

so I don't need a vic check and an mot then?

I was worried I'm driving it unlawfully....

I'll hopefully replace the bumper this week
Hi, go out & get a few drinks ( Without the car of course) it's not so often you get something out of them robbing bsd Insures, you did not say the make of your car but regards the fitting+ the bumper for a friend to do, within 70, as at times the rear car be a bit of a sod due to age, rust, & the seizure of the Bolts/nuts at the rear of the bumper.
Again, you do not need to get it checked, as far as your car is concerned it it legal, Eg/ MOT. Tax, Insurance.

cool, thanks guys. Really appreciate that.
No, they didn't have the log book or the test certificate,
It's not really bad damage, it just looks a bit untidy now.
