I haven't got far with this yet, but am already stuck. 9d 'One stolen car chased by first of agents in Italian city '(7). I want it to be Ferrara, but I have F?S?A??, the 'S' coming from the end of 12a 'An old newsagent perhaps saves time to speak again', which I have as 'Reuters'.
There also seems to be a line missing on the grid above 28d.

I'm pretty sure the 'f' at the beginning is correct.

What is the clue for the F at the begining , out of interest please? You are probably right. Never attempted a Mephisto before. Just thought that Pescara is an Italian city and contains the word car, yet, wait here + sure that some genius will provide you with the correct answer soon :-)

The 'F' comes from 7a Composer, as an alternative to be played very loudly (4): I have 'Orff'.

Ferrara - Ferrari with one stolen = ferrar, then add 'a' from agent. reutter is correct. Good luck with the rest. I am still working it.

Reuters looks right yet so does Ferrara so very confused!!

Oh, I am stupid - the answer is reutters, not Reuters, though it comes from Reuters!
