Its a long old process. The best thing you can get is a course of lamisil from your doctors. If its bad you might need to take it for 2 weeks. You also need to put anti fungal powder in your shoes and socks.

Then you need to get a special varnish ( from the doctors) and you need to file the nails down. Across the top, wipe with alcohol and then apply the varnish. You need to do this daily and use clean files and application tools each time. I had it in my left foot when I was a teenager and it took a year to correct.

I throw out all my shoes as soon as I had normal nails again. I would recommend open toed shoes as much as possible with the summer coming up.

I have tried this too, years ago from my GP but he said it would take a LONG time and I tried it for about 6 months but it didn't do anything. Its not only that it looks ugly its the fact that they are so hard to cut.

Have you heard anything about Comfrey?
Sporanox from your GP.
have you tried filing them down over the top, loula! Can you afford to see a chiropadist? If just for one visit, to show you how to trim and file them properly.
Toe nail fungus does take a long time, the point of the varnish is to stop any air getting to the nails so you can miss any of it. It does take a very long time, im afraid. You have to pester your gp for it too, did he stop it, at the time I had it, I Was informed it was a very expensive treatment and he didnt want to waste it if I Wasnt going to do it properly.
Hi lou,i had toe nail fungus for years ,the special varmish didnt work with me .So i tried rubbing in germoline every night .and was most suprised when it cleared up within a few weeks .Give it a try, the price of a tube of germoline isnt expensive :-)
Try some of these natural remedies - listed on the site below - all said to work

Eating a diet full of probiotics and yoghurt will also help - the good bacteria (the yoghurt) fighting the bad bacteria (the fungus!)

Cider vinegar, lavendar oil, and olive oil are all mentioned and are usually things we have in the house already . . .
