Hi karenoates,

Nationwide Flexi account is about the best.

You can have D/D facilities and a cash card. You can use this abroad with no charges but believe it might change this year.

You will not get a cheque book or credit card, but you could always get a pre-paid cash one from a few companies.

Thanks i'll try it.
Alternative is Co-op Cashminder. You generally get an Electron card, which is nearer to being a debit card than the cash card which comes with the basic Flexaccount.
Natwest also offer a Step account which you can apply for online if you want --> http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accoun ts/g1/regular-accounts/step-account.ashx .
