I am suffering from hot flushes & night sweats due to the menopause. I don't want to go onto HRT so can anyone suggest a natural alternative?

My suggestion is save your money! None of them work (well they didn't for me). Good luck :-) xxx

You can get a 'Chillow' - cooled me down! Sorry, I don't know how to add a link but you can google it.
i have a chillow pillow they are fantastic - wouldn't be without it
Chillow pillows are good. I also used flash fighters from Holland and Barret. They worked for me but I recomended them to a friend and they did nothing for her. But might be worth a try.
Have a chat with someone at your local health shop. I`ve found ours very helpful & in my experience there are things that help.
An Electric Fan !! - None of the alternative remedies work - I have suffered with them since having a hysterectomy 12 years ago.

One thing I would say - I now take Osteocare tablets for my bones - but have found they do help me cope with the flushes etc. Apart from calcium they do contain 300mg of magnesium per tablet - not sure if this is the reason.

Good Luck

Do what my wife does. She wakes me up and shares the experience.........then falls asleep and snores.
Where shall I start. Have a fan by the bed, so that can go on and off throughout the night, clear your cupboards of all woolly jumpers and anything that looks to thick, put the coat into storage, arm yourself with those little fan things that can be picked up in the 1 shop, a packet of wet wipes, so you can wipe your face when no one is looking, a can on cold pepsi (even though you dont drink it anymore) just to place your wrist on it to cool you down, get rid of the thick duvet and buy a nice low tog one. On a serious note try Soya Milk, I used to take a herbal tablet called Confience, you can buy it at Holland & Barret. Read up on herbal remedies. I am sure you will find something that agrees wih you. We women have to bloody well suffer. Good Luck.
why dont ou want to take hrt?
Black Coshosh worked for me and a fan!
I did'nt take hrt either gina. My gp would'nt let me on account of the links to breast cancer.
good suggestions especially the thin duvet, you can get a his and her duvet, split tog rating which really helps.
Just a note, mine went on for months, then stopped for months, then started again, and I am now free from them again.
I take soya isoflavones, they may help.
I forgot to mention in my last post jingo1 - I also have soya milk on my breakfast and in tea/coffee. I have been using this for 12 years now. Might help.

I have had some horrendous flushes - always seems to happen when I am in the supermarket - many a times I have opened one of the many freezers and put a packet of frozen peas on my face - truely !

Thanks to all for the tips and advice... Will be in holland & barratt asap....
Spoke to doctor about the problem but he was no use..
The main reason I don't want to use HRT is anything that messes up your hormones has got to be trouble!!! I don't fancy becoming a mad axe-murderer!!! I get enough mood swings as it is!!!
