At the weekend ( 5 days ago) I found my sturgeon lying on its back at the bottom of the pond, The sturgeon now justs seems to hang in a curve still breathing normally - it survived so far and i dont want to do anything extreme just incase it is normal behaviour?? When I gently flick him over the right way he seems fine but just doesnt want to move about and pretty much goes back to his 'upside down position - any idea whats wrong with it??

I'd suspect damage to the gills as the most likely cause. Perhaps an infection.

Do you have other fish and are they ok?

Have you seen this site -

possible swim bladder problem? i have tropical and cold water fish and several times found fish listless/on their side etc.normally the swim bladder will cause this.

Thank you both for the advice..... I found a site which explained what I believe to be the reason (malnutrition), and put the little guy on a separate container to try and feed him separately from the other fish, but to no avail.....sadly, said sturgeon went to fishy heaven on Friday evening.
Thanks though!!!
